An energy assessment conducted by a government-certified
energy advisor is the first
step towards getting federal ecoENERGY grants
and provincial rebates.
Your advisor will help you determine which
grants you might qualify for, and help you plan
your work to maximize the grant amount you will get.
They can also inform you about additional
incentive programs and rebates that may be
available from your provincial government or utility company.
Feel confident
An energy assessment is the fastest, best way
to get detailed information and expert
advice about your home’s energy needs.
By getting expert advice, you’ll
feel sure you’re making a sound decision.
All you need to do is book an appointment
and let your energy advisor do the rest.
They’ll bring their own equipment, conduct a
thorough evaluation of your home,
and help you discover the many energy-saving options you have.
Get expert advice
When you do energy renovations, professional
advisors are ready to guide you through
the whole process, from initial assessment to
receiving your rebate grant.
Your energy advisor’s expertise comes from
years of experience and specialized training.
They are certified and licenced by the federal
government to provide you with the best
possible information about your home.
Discover
choices and options
There are numerous possibilities when it comes to energy renovations.
You could do dozens, or just choose a
few key ones that make sense right now.
Or you could do a combination of different
renovations, according to your needs and
energy savings goals. Your advisor will help
you find the combination that is best for you.
Benefit
from specialized scientific tests
Detailed measurements are crucial to determining
how your home uses — and
loses — energy.
Without these measurements, it’s hard to
know if the energy renovations
you’re investing
in are the right ones to choose. Your energy advisor
uses specialized equipment and
knowledge to take these measurements during your energy assessment.
Learn
house-as-a-system approach
When your energy advisor conducts an assessment,
they’ll assess how each component of your
house — its structure and equipment —
contributes to the home’s
energy efficiency as a whole.
From this information, you’ll better
understand how each energy renovation you
make can enhance the others.
Document
your improvements
Only houses enrolled in the ecoENERGY
Retrofit program can receive official EnerGuide labels.
EnerGuide labels are vital pieces of information
that rate your home’s energy efficiency, on
a scale of 0 to 100. By documenting your home’s
energy rating, you will be able to prove that
you’ve made valuable improvements to your home.
This can increase your home’s
value when it’s time to sell.
Co-ordinate
efforts for most savings
Let’s face it, if you’re going to renovate,
it makes sense to get it over with at once.
By co-ordinating your energy improvements, and
conducting additional renovations that enhance
the effect of your primary ones, you can maximize
your home’s energy savings potential
with a minimum of fuss.
