Pricing
- The first ecoENERGY visit to your home costs you $295+GST.
- Follow-up ecoENERGY audits cost $150 plus GST. At this follow-up visit,
your auditor will update your official EnerGuide rating based
on your improvements, and apply on your behalf for your
ecoENERGY grant.
- Prices apply to single-family houses.
Lower per unit prices apply to multi-unit residential buildings (MURB). Contact us for a quote.
Additional costs
- Houses greater than 3,500 sq.ft. of floor area (including basement) will
be charged an additional fee of $75+GST for the first visit.
- Travel costs may apply for houses outside of the central service area
of a HomePerformance Energy Advisor.
Homeowners must pay the HomePerformance Energy Advisor at the completion of the visit.
Payment may be made by cheque or in cash.
Advisors are not set up to handle credit or debit cards at this time.

- Clean out ashes from fireplace and close dampers
- Close all windows and doors
- Provide access to attic, heating and cooling equipment
- Arrange access to all living areas in the home
Be assured that information regarding the existence of separate
living suites is not recorded as part of the ecoENERGY audit process.

Get started
To qualify for federal ecoENERGY Retrofit grants, you need to have an energy
audit on your home before you start any energy renovations. Some exceptions apply.
For example, in case of an emergency where your furnace needs immediate
replacement you can schedule your first ecoENERGY audit within 3 days of the replacement.
Please keep careful documentation of your original equipment.
18 months
You must complete your upgrades and obtain your follow-up ecoENERGY audit
within 18 months from the date of your first audit. You can complete the work yourself or hire a contractor.
Eligible properties
Properties eligible for an ecoENERGY Retrofit grant include:
- Single-family detached houses
- Attached houses (e.g. row, duplex and triplex)
- Small apartment buildings of three storeys or less
- Mobile homes on a permanent foundation
Properties cannot exceed a footprint of 600 square meters (approx. 6000 square feet).
Ownership
Ownership types eligible for an ecoENERGY Retrofit grant include:
- Private homeowner
- Landlord
- Condominium or strata council
- Co-operative
- Aboriginal housing
- Municipal housing
- Non-Canadian residents
Some properties are not included
- Recreational properties
- High-rise buildings
- Commercial buildings
