Payment — BC
BC homeowners pay for their energy audit at time
of booking using their credit card. Our credit card payment
policy, including refunds, reschedules and cancellations is described
here.
If you are unable to pay for your energy audit by
credit card, ask your agent for permission to pay your
HomePerformance Energy Advisor
by cheque or cash at the time of your energy audit visit.
Home energy audit — Get ready
Before your BC
HomePerformance Energy Advisor visits,
you’ll need to prepare your home ...
- Extinguish wood burning fires
- Clean out ashes from fireplace and close dampers
- Close all windows and doors
- Arrange access to all living areas in the home
- Provide access to attic, crawl space, heating and cooling
equipment, or any other hard-to-reach areas
Be assured that information regarding the existence of
separate living suites in BC homes is not recorded
as part of the ecoENERGY audit process.
- Photos –
Your BC energy advisor will need to take photos of the outside and
inside of your home, for documentation purposes.
- Release form –
You must sign a homeowner release form permitting your advisor to
take the photos, to release your energy audit data to the
Canadian government and BC government, and to allow the
Canadian and BC governments to carry
out quality assurance measures if the need arises.
- Homeowner –
To simplify all document signing,
the BC homeowner whose name is to appear on the Government
of Canada ecoENERGY grant cheque and the
LiveSmart BC rebate cheque should attend the first and second
energy audit visits. This can reduce the time you wait
for your government cheques to arrive in the mail.
- Questions about eligibility –
If you are not certain about the eligibility of your BC house,
or any specific upgrades you are planning, you should request
clarification from the Governments of Canada and BC. Homeowners are
responsible for clarifying that their BC house and planned renovations
and improvements are eligible for Canada ecoENERGY
grants and Livesmart BC rebates before undertaking any renovation work
and related expenses.
