Touwslager says that compared with the old furnace, the new furnace is more efficient and the house is more evenly heated. “It works differently,” she explains. “It doesn’t shoot out heat all the time like the old one [did]. It’s very quiet and very comfortable.”

- Geothermal — ground- or water-source heat pumps which are energy-efficient heating and cooling systems up to $6,875

With today’s 2011 “tax credit” programs there’s no need to wait until you’ve filed your annual income tax return to receive a home renovation tax credit.
